This post will be nothing like I usually do but since I've been on a bed rest for a couple (feels like forever!) days I thought I'd do something special on my blog!  I would share some of my current or all time favorite products! Okay, it might seem odd that I'm about to talk about beauty related products (too) since this blog features mainly foods but hey, diversity makes life interesting, doesn't it? So if you don't care about such things, then know that you've been warned :) ps: Photos are not mine.  So let's begin with my favorite kitchen/food related products! Fun stuff! Current favorite breakfast Slightly salty Oatmeal Current favorite lunch Coconut Rice Pudding  from Krissy's Creations Okay, you can definitely tell that I'm sick... But this coconut rice pudding was sooo amazing! Due to my lactose intolerance I shouldn't consume milk but rice pudding is one of my favorites so I was more than happy wh

Strawberry Ricotta Cake - Epres Túrótorta

The question was what to make with the strawberries? We had a mild disagreement when it came to answering that specific question. I had a strawberry ricotta cream on my mind. My family had something different. But we came to the conclusion to have a strawberry ricotta cake! This cake has a soft and chocolatey-walnutty base and a thick but creamy and fresh layer of ricotta cream on top! To make it even more irresistible there are hidden strawberries under the ricotta cream! It is a very light and satisfying dessert, ideal for a Sunday afternoon indulgence :) ps: This beauty was created by my lovely Mom. I'm having finals so I don't quite have the time for baking. Strawberry Ricotta Cake for the base 2 eggs 2 tablespoons sugar 1 tablespoon flour 1/4 teaspoon baking soda 1 tablespoon bread crumbs 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder 1 tablespoon corn starch 3/4 cup walnuts - rough chopped Whisk egg whites with the sugar until stiff. My favorite Oatmeal

I've mentioned it several times before that I was definitely not the oatmeal type. I despised it so much that it always puzzled me why people would eat such a nasty stuff every morning! But for 2012 I had a resolution to get back in shape and to be as healthy as possible so I started eating oatmeal every single morning. My face must have been so funny to look at in the beginning... I did not like it at all! But I kept on eating it and started experimenting with recipes, as well. I posted a few oatmeal recipes that I loved until I found the one and only recipe that made me fall in love with oatmeal! First of all, I actually don't like sweet oatmeal. How weird is that? I don't like cinnamon on it, either. Nor do I like honey or yogurt or anything these sorts. Such a weirdo, right? But I do love a creamy and slightly salty one with a hint of vanilla. Sounds like a strange combo but believe me, it IS so so so good! Sometimes I even have this for dinner because I'm cr

Homemade Peanut Butter

There's something magical in recreating store-bought foods at home. It might be the fact that homemade is most of the time a lot healthier... Or that you know exactly what's in the food you put in your mouth. Or that you can alter it to your own taste. And frankly, I always feel like I'm such a super cool person to be able to make tortillas at home. Or  homemade Nutella , or  almond butter ... So I thought it was time to write a post about homemade Peanut Butter! It is so super duper easy and healthy! I can't buy my favorite peanut butters in Hungary so it leaves me 2 options. Buy that crazy expensive, nasty Dutch peanut butter or make my own. Hmm... Doesn't take a genius to guess which option I chose :P I've tried making peanut butter at home many many times before always doing something different... This time I didn't add any oil in it, nor honey that I usually make it with. I sweetened it with 1 teaspoon maple syrup! Oh my... It added such an amazi

Turkey-Mushroom Burger with Homemade Whole Wheat Rye Buns

Weekends usually contain some special meals at my house. Like last weekend we had  Pad Thai  and coconut chicken soup. The week before the Thai weekend, we had Mexican, Greek and so on... This week I decided that let's have an American day! Okay... A healthier version of it. So I dived myself into searching the perfect whole wheat bun recipe. I'm not sure if it's the perfect one that I finally chose to make but it has such a rich flavor. Oh and it's oh so filling! Everyone was so full after! :) And I also changed the traditional hamburger to a juicy and healthy turkey-mushroom burger! It was soooooooooooo good! Words don't do justice when I try to explain its taste... It has such a complex and delicious flavor. On top of it all, it is ridiculously easy to make! If you don't have time to make the whole wheat buns, that's okay but DO try this burger! ps: I made some "healthy fries" as well, as a side dish. I baked them in the oven. AMAZING.
